Both facilities include a large number of cats, and orientation will be held in a room with cats in condos. You are not required to handle cats (or any other animal you're uncomfortable with), but there will certainly be cat dander in the air at both locations.

VOLUNTEER AGREEMENT AND WAIVER (parent must sign if under 18)*

I recognize that working with animals places me at physical risk, and I agree to assume that risk. Furry Friends Refuge has taken measures to ensure reasonable safety for me as a volunteer. It is possible, however, that accidents or injuries may occur while I am volunteering on Furry Friends property or any other location where I may be working as a Furry Friends volunteer. In such an event, I release Furry Friends Refuge from any and all claims and causes of action that I may have arising from an injury or damage sustained during my volunteer work with the organization. I also will hold harmless any other locations I may volunteer at for injury or illness caused by the animals I come into contact with in my volunteer duties. I agree to follow the policies and procedures in the volunteer training manual and to ask questions if I am unsure of a policy. As a volunteer, I am encouraged to speak about my feelings and opinions regarding animal welfare. I do understand, however, that some of my opinions may not be shared by the organization and that I should check with an authorized representative of the organization before speaking on behalf of Furry Friends. I agree to allow Furry Friends to use my photo or likeness taken during volunteer activities in promotion of the organization’s programs and mission. I understand that my job as a volunteer is highly valued, but also understand that I will not receive compensation and that I may be terminated if I am unable to conduct myself in an appropriate manner. I agree that I will respect the positions and policies of the organization. While personal opinions regarding care and other issues may vary, I will follow the positions and policies set out by Furry Friends as I am volunteering as a representative of the organization. If I feel that there is a policy that is against the best interest of the animals, I will bring my concern to an appropriate member of the organization.
