Surrender Applications
Surrendering a pet is scheduled by appointment only, pending approval of your surrender application. Please be patient as intakes may be scheduled several weeks or more in advance, depending on the capacity of our shelter and clinic. Dog and cat surrenders are typically only accepted from within our jurisdiction, which includes the cities of West Des Moines, Urbandale, Clive, and Windsor Heights. If your pet came from another shelter, even if it was prior to your ownership, it must be returned to that shelter. Surrender fees are assessed to cover your pet’s costs while here at the shelter, beginning at $25 per animal or litter of kittens/puppies.
