Medical Assistant Intern—Furry Friends is looking to hire a medical assistant intern.  This position will assist with the needs of the high volume spay and neuter clinic as well as the documentation and administration of medications for the shelter animals.  This position will learn how to administer various medications, keep and maintain proper medical records, prepare surgery tools, as well as will assist with other tasks related to the spay and neuter clinic and shelter.  The position will be 3:30-8/8:30pm Monday and Thursday.  Applicants should send a resume as well as indicate why they would like to be considered for the internship to spay@furryfriendsrefuge.org.  Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and have reliable transportation.  This is a paid internship for 12-18 months and is at a rate of 8.50/hr.

Volunteer Coordinator—this part-time position will coordinate all activities of Furry Friends Refuge’s volunteer program including recruiting, training, recognizing, and supporting volunteers, maintaining volunteer records, and performing related work required to achieve our No-Kill mission.  The ideal candidate will be a “people person” and will be empathetic with outstanding communication and project management skills.  This position will work under general supervision of the shelter director.

The volunteer coordinator will recruit volunteers and position them to assignments that obtain maximum fulfillment and engagement.  The coordinator will meet with staff to correctly identify volunteer needs and will proactively educate volunteers on the organization and its funding needs.  It is expected that the number of volunteer hours filling identified needed roles as a result of this position exceed the number of hours required for coordination.  Volunteer coordinator will be required to work a portion of most weekends, must be proficient in technology, and must be able to address emotional situations with tact as well as independent judgment in line with policy and procedural guidelines.  Resumes may be submitted to volunteer@furryfriendsrefuge.org

Animal Care/Adoption Counselor– This fast-paced position will provide counseling to new adopters, complete the adoption process, handle incoming animals from the public and animal control, and help care for animals. Candidates must be organized, positive, and able to work independently; be able to lift 50 pounds regularly, as well as stand and do physical work for long periods of time; and have experience handling animals of all kinds. Attention to detail, a positive can-do attitude, and excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required. Additionally, they must be passionate about our mission to build a no-kill community and love animals. One weekend day will be required–schedule will include 3-4 days a week.
