Full time adoption coordinator–
This opening is for an Adoptions counselor/Animal care provider to serve as a part of our team at our no-kill organization. This position is based at our West Des Moines location and is a fast paced environment and will include hours in the afternoons and evenings during the week with Sunday as a required weekend day. Full-time employees have set schedule of 4 days a week, shifts typically range from 8-10 hours.
Position will focus on counseling adopters, processing adoptions, providing advice and assistance in matching people with pets, and assisting pet owners and animal control officers with animal intakes. Will also include helping volunteers providing care and cleaning for the animals at the shelter and evening care duties including medications and letting dogs out at the end of the evening. Will also include other duties as assigned. Attention to detail, a positive can-do attitude, ability to excel in a fast paced environment, strong multitasking skills, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are required. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with technology, able to stand and walk for long periods of time and be able to lift at least 50lbs. Animal Caretaker part-time–
Will provide care for all animals at our 3505 Mills Civic Parkway West Des Moines facility. Focus will primarily be on dogs and animals with medical needs and will include handling dogs quarantined for bite hold and administering medications. The successful candidate must be prepared to do physical work for long periods of time and must have a can-do attitude. Position also includes assisting in intake of stray animals in our community through animal control and reunification of stray animals with their owners. Position also includes other duties as assigned. All team members must be passionate about our no-kill community building mission and love animals. Must be able to work alongside volunteers in a cooperative and appreciative manner. Position is 4-6 hours 3 days a week in the morning, including Thursdays and Sundays. Medical Assistant Intern—
Furry Friends is looking to hire a medical assistant intern. This position will assist with the needs of the high volume spay and neuter clinic as well as the documentation and administration of medications for the shelter animals. This position will learn how to administer various medications, keep and maintain proper medical records, prepare surgery tools, as well as will assist with other tasks related to the spay and neuter clinic and shelter. The position will be afternoons/early evenings Monday and Thursday.
