Full time adoption coordinator–

This opening is for an Adoptions counselor/Animal care provider to serve as a part of our team at our no-kill organization. This position is based at our West Des Moines location and is a fast paced environment and will include hours in the afternoons and evenings during the week with Sunday as a required weekend day. Full-time employees have set schedule of 4 days a week, shifts typically range from 8-10 hours.

Position will focus on counseling adopters, processing adoptions, providing advice and assistance in matching people with pets, and assisting pet owners and animal control officers with animal intakes. Will also include helping volunteers providing care and cleaning for the animals at the shelter and evening care duties including medications and letting dogs out at the end of the evening. Will also include other duties as assigned. Attention to detail, a positive can-do attitude, ability to excel in a fast paced environment, strong multitasking skills, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are required. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with technology, able to stand and walk for long periods of time and be able to lift at least 50lbs. All team members must be passionate about our no-kill community building mission, love animals, and have internal drive to learn and communicate with team members for the benefit of the animals depending on us. Part-time animal caretaker-cat team: This position will care for the cats at our adoption center. This position includes cleaning, sanitizing, feeding, handling cats with a variety of socialization needs, and providing medication. As a caretaker interacting daily with the cats in our care, you will also update biographies and pictures to be posted to our website to increase exposure to our adopters. This position will also assist as needed with receiving stray animals of all types and returning them to their owners, as well as provide support to volunteers and co-workers on the dog, medical, and adoption teams as needed. Must have a positive can-do attitude and be able to work well with people and animals from diverse backgrounds. This position is Monday-Friday beginning at 8am and is approximately 25 hours per week.
