FULL OR PART TIME VET TECH

This position works in our spay/neuter clinic assisting our staff vet with surgeries and medical care and treatment of animals 4 days a week (Monday and Thursday approx. 10 hour shifts, Tues and either Fri, Sat or Sun 4-6 hour shifts). A candidate preferring part-time work can choose to work only Monday and Thursday if desired. Position is fast-paced as clinic performs around 3000 surgeries a year with this schedule. Candidates should have 1 year or more experience in veterinary office and be familiar with surgery preparation, monitoring, and recovery. Tasks include initial evaluation of animals, prepping for surgery, documenting of medical treatments and evaluations, preparation of medications and treatments, care of animals with medical needs, check in and check outs of community owned animals, communication with owners including rescue organizations related to medical needs of animals and other tasks as assigned. We are looking for someone to join our team who shares our passion and mission to offer affordable high-quality medical assistance to pet owners and unowned animals in need. Work is fast-paced but meaningful and serves patients and their owners who otherwise would not be able to receive care. All medical team members rotate on-call response for emergencies one week a month. Drug screen and criminal background check required. Pay range is $18-23/hr depending on skills and experience. FULL TIME ADOPTION COUNSELOR/ANIMAL CARE PROVIDER (not currently open)

This opening is for an Adoptions counselor/Animal care provider to serve as a part of our team at our no-kill organization. This position is based at our West Des Moines location and is a fast paced environment and will include hours in the afternoons and evenings with one weekend day required . Shifts typically range from 8-10 hours with consistent shifts each week on a 4 or 5 day work week schedule.

Position will focus on counseling adopters, processing adoptions, providing advice and assistance in matching people with pets, and assisting pet owners and animal control officers with animal intakes. Will also include helping volunteers providing care and cleaning for the animals at the shelter and evening care duties including medications and letting dogs out at the end of the evening. Will also include other duties as assigned. Attention to detail, a positive can-do attitude, ability to excel in a fast paced environment, strong multitasking skills, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are required. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with technology, able to stand and walk for long periods of time and be able to lift at least 50lbs.
