The past month has been a wonderfully busy one for our capital campaign! Here are the latest developments.
Seeing is believing!
Our next priority is finding an electrician willing to design and install the wiring for the adoption building at a discounted rate. If you know an interested company, please let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
(We’ll also be seeking other donations from trades, so keep thinking about any construction companies you have an “in” with!)
Key donation arrives from Voya
The Des Moines office of Voya Financial Inc. is warming — and cooling — pets in need with a recent donation to a local no-kill animal shelter.
The financial services company announced Aug. 23 that it would donate $10,000 to Furry Friends Refuge to help the animal shelter purchase and install HVAC equipment in its third adoption facility.
“Our efforts to give back to the community include our animals, with a number of our employees volunteering at Furry Friends Refuge, and we are proud to be able to help local pets as they await their forever homes,” said Heather Kleis, SVP, human resources.
Furry Friends is building a third shelter at 3505 Mills Civic Parkway, West Des Moines. The nonprofit hopes to break ground on the 7,500-square-foot facility this fall.
“We are so appreciative of how supportive Voya and its employees have been of our mission, and we are thrilled that the company has committed to expanding our life-saving programs,” said Britt Gagne, executive director of Furry Friends.
Voya’s commitment to its community will be permanently recognized with a plaque on one of the new shelter’s cat rooms. It and other supporters of Furry Friends’ capital campaign are also honored on a special webpage, where interested donors can learn more about the fundraising drive.
